Description
| This repository contains CO2 soil flux data acquired at la Soufrière de Guadeloupe. Acquisitions began during fieldwork carried out as part of Amelie Klein's PhD (Université Clermont Auvergne 2021-2024). Measurements were carried out using a West Systems® Accumulation Chamber and Portable Fluxmeter with an IR LI-COR CO2 detector (LI-830). Data acquisition was controlled via the FluxManager software on an Android smartphone. The raw data are provided in a zip file ("CO2_soil_flux_SoufriereGuadeloupe_YYYY_raw.tgz"). The ensemble of the data from each campaign is provided in a "tabulated" format ("CO2_soil_flux_SoufriereGuadeloupe_YYYY.csv" and "*.tab"). These files have been produced using either the West Systems FluxRevision software (available via https://www.westsystems.com/instruments/download/) or equivalent open-source software (https://github.com/djessop/westsystems_ac).
The data columns in the *.tab and *.csv files contain the following
column name description
'datetime' datetime in %Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S format
'ACCUMULATION CHAMBER' type of accumulation chamber used
'ACK' accumulation chamber conversion factor. See West Systems manual for details
'AIR RELATIVE HUMIDITY (%)' air relative humidity
'AIR TEMPERATURE (degC)' air temperature in degrees Celsius
'CO2_FLUX [mol/m2/day]' CO2 flux, calculated as CO2_SLOPE * ACK
'CO2_LCONC [ppm]' left-hand limit of conc. for CO2_SLOPE calculation
'CO2_LLIMIT [sec]' left-hand limit of time for CO2_SLOPE calculation
'CO2_RCONC [ppm]' right-hand limit of conc. for CO2_SLOPE calculation
'CO2_RLIMIT [sec]' right-hand limit of time for CO2_SLOPE calculation
'CO2_SLOPE [ppm/s]' slope of the CO2 conc. time series using above limits
'CO2_SLOPE_ABS_ERR [ppm/s]' absolute error of the CO2_SLOPE calculation
'CO2_r^2' Pearson's R^2 correlation coefficient from CO2_SLOPE calculation
'ELEVATION' elevation in metres a.s.l (i.e. altitude)
'LATITUDE' latitude in decimal degrees (WGS84, EPSG:4326)
'LONGITUDE' longitude in decimal degrees (WGS84, EPSG:4326)
'PRESSURE (hPa)' air pressure in hecto Pascals (i.e. 100 Pa)
'UTM LATITUDE' UTM latitude in metres
'UTM LONGITUDE' UTM longitude in metres
'UTM ZONE' UTM zone
Geojson (CO2_soil_flux_SoufriereGuadeloupe_YYYY.geojson) and ESRI shapefiles (available as a zipped archive named CO2_soil_flux_SoufriereGuadeloupe_YYYY.zip) contain additional "LATITUDE" , "LONGITUDE" and "geometry" columns, the latter defines the measurement point as the coordinate pair ('LONGITUDE', 'LATITUDE'). "LATITUDE" and "LONGITUDE" are given in degrees. Note that the ESRI shapefiles also contain abbreviated column names. The full names are as described above.
To convert CO2_FLUX from mol/m2/day to kg/m2/day, multiply by the molar mass of CO2 (0.04401 kg/mol). For g/m2/day, use 44.01 g/mol as the multiplicative factor. For conversion of degrees Celsius to Kelvin, add 273.15 K. |
