OVERVIEW This repository contains ground temperature data acquired at la Soufrière de Guadeloupe. Measurements were performed at various depths using PT100 temperature probes inserted inside stainless-steel tubes with conical ends which were driven into the ground. Only when the temperature had stabilised were recordings made using a Campbell Scientific CR6 datalogger, with positions simultaneously recorded using handheld “GPS” units (Garmin eTrex® 20 or GPSMAP® 60). The ensemble of the data from each campaign is provided in a “tabulated” format (“ground_temperature_profiles_YYYY.csv” and "*.tab"), which has been produced by combining the CR6 and GPS data.
Initial data were acquired during fieldwork carried out as part of the PhD of Amelie Klein (Université Clermont Auvergne 2021–2024). Further details can be found in Klein (2024) and Klein et al. (2024). Where no measurement was recorded, the corresponding ‘T_XXcm’ field containing NaN (not-a-number). Geojson (ground_temperature_profiles_YYYY.geojson) and ESRI shapefiles (available as a zipped archive named ground_temperature_profiles_YYYY.shz) contain an additional “geometry” column which defines the measurement point as the coordinate pair (‘LONGITUDE’, ‘LATITUDE’).
